Hello from the shores of Lake Erie. Yes, that's right. I live in Ontario. But I have deep Nova Scotia roots. See, my late mother was born and raised in Nova Scotia in a picturesque community called Oyster Pond Jeddore, about an hour from Halifax.
I spent many a day visiting my Grandad in Oyster Pond during my childhood. My family took annual summer trips to Nova Scotia, and it's a place I hold near and dear.
Genealogy is one of my favourite hobbies. While researching my mom's side of the family, I come across countless memories, photographs, places, people, and stories of everyday life from the past in rural Nova Scotia.
So, I thought why not share all of these with others. The content here contains some of my own family history. but a lot of it has no family connection at all. That's why I've created this blog called The Bluenose Chronicles. There will no doubt be a focus on the Eastern Shore because that's the area I am mostly familiar with, but that's not to say other parts of the province will not be included.
Perhaps this blog will (re)introduce you to your own family and local history. Or maybe it will serve up a nice slice of nostalgia for you. No matter how or why you got here, I am happy you stopped by. Hope you enjoy the stay.
